NestMender (“we”, “us”) operates the NestMender mobile app and this website at nestmender.com. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
Information we collect
- Launch notifications — If you sign up on nestmender.com before launch, we store your email address to notify you when the app is available. We use this only for launch-related messages.
- Founding beta programme — The first 10 email signups may receive founding beta perks, including unlimited scans for two weeks during beta testing and a priority TestFlight invite on iPhone. We match your website signup email to your app account email to grant perks. Beta perks are time-limited and described in your signup confirmation email.
- Account details — When you sign up we collect your name, email address, and optional profile information (such as postcode and avatar choices) via Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore.
- Repair photos — When you use Scan, you upload photos of home repair problems. Images are sent to our servers for AI analysis and may be stored in Firebase Storage while you keep the associated repair saved.
- App activity — We store your saved and planned repairs, scan usage, subscription tier, XP, badges, and tool inventory in Firestore to provide app features.
- Device permissions — The app may request camera access (for scanning), photo library access (to pick images), and notification permission (for planned-repair reminders). You can decline or revoke these in your device settings.
How we use your information
- Generate AI-powered repair guides from your uploaded photos.
- Save and sync your repairs, plans, and profile across sessions.
- Enforce free-tier scan limits and deliver Premium features when subscribed.
- Send password-reset and account-related emails through Firebase.
- Run the founding beta programme (signup confirmations, TestFlight invites, and time-limited scan perks for eligible testers).
- Improve reliability and fix bugs in our services.
Third-party services
- Resend — Launch-list confirmations and founding beta emails (including TestFlight invites) are sent through Resend from launch@nestmender.com.
- Google Firebase — Authentication, database (Firestore), file storage, and cloud functions. See Google’s Firebase privacy information.
- OpenAI — Repair images and context are processed to produce repair guides. Content is sent only when you run a scan.
- YouTube — The app embeds YouTube videos for “Watch How” tutorials. Google may collect data according to its own policies when you play a video.
- Apple In-App Purchase — On iPhone, Premium subscriptions are billed through Apple. We receive subscription status (via Apple and/or RevenueCat) to unlock Premium features; we do not receive your full payment card details.
- Stripe — On web, optional Premium checkout may use Stripe. Payment details are handled by Stripe, not stored by us.
Data retention
We keep your account data while your account is active. You can delete your account from within the app, which removes your Auth user, Firestore profile, repairs, and associated storage files. Backups may persist for a limited period as part of normal infrastructure operations.
Children
NestMender is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (including the UK and EEA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to certain processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page with an updated date.
